The following Brevard division assignments will be effective July 1, 2024, unless otherwise specified.

24-30-s

WHEREAS the Chief Judge “shall regulate the use of all court facilities,” as provided in 2.215(b)(7), Florida Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration; IT IS ORDERED that all locked jury restrooms are to be used only by the jurors or as any Judge directs. DONE AND ORDERED this 17th day of June 2024.

The court having determined that Judge Benjamin B. Garagozlo should not hear cases in which Security First Insurance Company, Brevard County School District, and Brevard Physician Associates PLLC appear as parties, therefore all pending or newly filed cases in which Security First Insurance Company, Brevard County School District, and Brevard Physician Associates PLLC appear as parties shall be reassigned to the next judge in rotation pursuant to pending or existing administrative orders.

Due to the upcoming division changes, Judge Benjamin B. Garagozlo’s pending caseload will be distributed alphabetically as indicated within, effective July 1, 2024.

24-24-s

The court having determined that Judge Melissa Souto should not hear cases in which attorney Michelle A. Barry, it is ORDERED that all pending or newly filed cases in which Michelle A. Barry, Bar# 35363, appears as attorney of record for any party shall be reassigned to the next judge in rotation pursuant to pending or existing administrative orders.

24-20-b

Florida Statutes Chapters 569.11 and 569.42 involve cases alleging non-criminal violations against persons under the age of twenty-one (21) for unlawful purchase, possession or use of tobacco and/or nicotine, and vaping products.

24-19 Supersedes 20-20

WHEREAS administrative orders from time to time become obsolete;
IT IS ORDERED that the following administrative order is hereby rescinded:
20-20: In Re: Criminal – Initial Appearance Determination of Indigent Status, Appointment of Public Defender, Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, and Private Conflict Counsel

Judge Segal will be taking over Judge Speicher’s family cases effective July 1, 2024.
There are six (6) cases that are now set for trial from which Judge Robert Segal cannot hear. Therefore, the below cases should be reassigned accordingly.
