1985 Admin Order 85-12-b

85-12-B (85-12 Cr B): JURY INSTRUCTIONS IN FELONY CRIMINAL CASES (BREVARD COUNTY), SUPERSEDES 85-9-B (85-9 CR B) - ORDERED 9/18/1985 BY CLARENCE T. JOHNSON, JR.

It appears to the Court that attorneys in felony trials are requesting jury instructions orally or by typed sheet containing only the instruction numbers. This is an unsatisfactory practice. It is thereupon ORDERED as follows:

  1. That effective September 1, 1985, attorneys representing the State of Florida and Defendants in felony criminal cases in Brevard County, shall each prepare and present to the trial Judge, a complete set of typed final jury instructions which the attorneys wish the Court to give.
  2. Said instructions shall be typed on separate sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 paper and shall not contain citations of authority, since the instructions may, in the Court’s discretion, be both read and submitted to the jury.

ORDERED at Rockledge, Brevard County, Florida, this 18th day of September 1985.
