15-35 IN RE: ATTORNEYS - APPOINTMENT OF PUBLIC DEFENDER IN BAKER ACT PROCEEDING - ORDERED 7/31/2015 BY JOHN D. GALLUZZO
Whereas , 394-467(4), Florida Statutes requires the appointment of the public defender to represent a person who is the subject of a petition for involuntary placement within one (1)working day after the filing of the petition, unless the person is otherwise represented by counsel, and Whereas, it has been determined that the issuance of an administrative order covering all such cases would be more efficient than issuing individual orders of appointment in each applicable case.
Now therefore, I, John D. Galluzzo, Chief Judge of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit hereby order the appointment of the Public Defender of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida to represent persons who are the subjects of petitions for involuntary placement filed in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit pursuant to 394-467(4), Florida Statutes. The Public Defender shall not be appointed in those cases where the subjects are represented by private counsel. The Clerk of Court shall notify the Public Defender of all cases in which the office is appointed pursuant to the terms of this order.
