Digital Court Reporting

The general public may have access to digitally recorded court proceedings, with the exception of those that are deemed confidential. Proceedings that are confidential in nature, such as Juvenile Dependency or Delinquency, may only be obtained with a signed court order.

Order Digital Recordings
in Brevard

Presently, there are three ways to receive a copy of digitally recorded court proceedings in Brevard County:

  1. Digital download,
  2. Typed transcript,
  3. DVD recording

If you are not a party to the case, the requested recording will be reviewed for privileged communications.

Please note, pursuant to the law of the State of Florida a written transcript must be provided to the Court for all exceptions/objections to hearings by a General Magistrate. See Florida Family Law Rules of Procedure Form 12.920(a) for more information.

REQUEST PROCEDURES:

Orders will not be processed until a completed form is provided. Incomplete order forms will not be processed. Please complete the online request form using the link below to place your order, and make sure to include the following information:

  1. Case Number
  2. Case Name
  3. Date of Hearing (If you are ordering multiple dates for the same case number, please put the additional dates in the special instructions box at the bottom of the order form page.)
  4. Name of Judge and/or courtroom

Normal turnaround time is 10 to 14 business days after payment is received, however if a recording of a jury trial is being requested, it can take up to 30 days to fill the order.

COST:

General:

In accordance with FS 29.0195, if you are a party to the case and/or the attorney of record the fee will be $25.00 (includes shipping & handling). If you are requesting a certified CD and/or are not a party to the case or attorney of record, there will be $25.00 fee plus a review and redaction fee of $.38 per minute. For example, the recording of an hour-long proceeding would cost $47.80 ($25 fee + 60 minutes X .38 per minute). Once the request form is received, the Digital Recording Office will contact you with the cost of your order. No orders will be processed until payment is received. ALL CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS MUST BE MADE OUT TO THE STATE OF FLORIDARequests for digital recordings will not be processed until full payment and a signed copy of the usage agreement are received. 

Digital Download:

The cost for a digital download (audio/video recording) is $25.00 per recording per day, plus redaction fee if applicable.  For example, if you require a recording for three different days that your case was heard, then your cost will be $75.00.

DVD:

The cost of a DVD along with your digital download is $25.00 for both.  If you want the DVD only, the cost is $25.00.  The cost for additional DVD copies is $5.00 each.

Written Transcripts:

Upon receipt of the completed transcript request form, a transcriptionist will contact you with the estimate for the transcript and make financial arrangements with you.
